Sink or Swim present Ida Wenøe & Samantha Whates Sun, Apr 26, 2026 at 7:30-11:00 PM

Sunday 26 April 2026
7:30 pm - 11:00 pm
 Advance £12 + BF
The Tin At The Coal Vaults

When Ida Wenøe and Samantha Whates take the stage together, it’s not your typical double headline show where one artist follows the other. Instead, they weave their performances into something far more collaborative and unexpected.

The two songwriters combine their set lists into a seamless flow, often without revealing who wrote which song. This approach creates a narrative that goes beyond what either achieves alone—an unfolding story that draws you in, song by song.

Rather than stepping aside, they share the stage from start to finish, featuring on each other’s songs with harmonies, instrumental layers, and a natural ease that comes from genuine connection, respect and long time friendship. Expect two full sets that are immersive, multi-instrumental, and brimming with warmth, love and laughter.

One of the most striking aspects of their collaboration is how it defies the competitive edge often projected onto women in music. Here, you witness the opposite: two artists lifting each other up, creating space for their songs to breathe together, and celebrating what happens when voices, stories, and talents intertwine.

This is a performance that’s part concert, part conversation, and wholly unique—an evening where the joy of collaboration takes center stage.

Sink or Swim presents Charlie Parr

Saturday 23 May 2026
7:30 pm - 11:00 pm
Early bird £18 | Advance £20 (+ booking fee)
The Tin At The Coal Vaults

In the music of Charlie Parr, there is a sincere conviction and earnest drive to create. The Minnesota-born guitarist, songwriter, and interpreter of traditional music has released 19 albums over two decades and has been known to perform up to 275 shows a year. Parr is a folk troubadour in the truest sense: taking to the road between shows, writing and rewriting songs as he plays, fueled by a belief that music is eternal and cannot be claimed or adequately explained. The bluesman poet pulls closely from the sights and sounds around him, his lyrical craftsmanship built by his influences. The sounds from his working-class upbringing—including Folkways legends such as Lead Belly and Woody Guthrie—imbue Parr’s music with stylistic echoes of blues and folk icons of decades past. Parr sees himself merely as a continuer of a folk tradition: “I feel like I stand on a lot of big shoulders,” he said in an interview. “I hope that I’ve brought a little bit of myself to the music.”

With a discography simultaneously transcendental in nature and grounded in roots music, Charlie Parr is the humble master of the 21st century folk tradition.

In his 2024 release, Little Sun, Parr weaves together stories celebrating music, community, and communing with nature. Putting forth an ambitious and raw album that exemplifies the best of Parr’s sound: a blend of the blues and folk traditions he continues to carry with him and the steadfast originality of a poet.

Sink or Swim present Co-Headline: Julie’s Haircut + Brown Spirits

Monday 25 May 2026

Early bird £12 | Advance £14 (+ booking fee)
The Tin At The Coal Vaults

Active since the late nineties, Julie’s Haircut is a band from Emilia, northern Italy, devoted to spacey, hypnotic sounds. The band’s music has evolved in time, through a series of albums and EPs, from the garage-rock soulful energy of their debut towards more experimental grounds, reaching a kaleidoscopic eclecticism that spans rock and psychedelia, from electronic to minimalism, with echoes of jazz, ethnic, dub and drone music. They have been making music with Damo Suzuki, Sonic Boom, Philip Corner, Valerio Cosi and more. Their new album ‘Radiance Opposition’ is released in November 2025.

From psyched-out Krautrock to free-jazz wig outs to funk-flavoured downtempo jams, Brown Spirits endeavor to smash every show as if it was their last. Hailing from Melbourne (AUS) the band maintains a strict DIY recording ethic and comes with a handful of global releases, the 2 most recent albums being on UK’s acclaimed Soul Jazz Records thus landing Brown Spirits as the first ever act from Australia to sign with the label. With strong support from national radio and accolades from abroad including Mojo UK, Uncut Magazine, KEXP and BBC Radio, such recognition has seen the band sharing stages with some their favourite offshore influences such as Kikagaku Moyo (Japan), Frankie and the Witchfingers (usa), Minami Deutsch (Japan) and Yawning Man (usa).

There probably aren’t enough thick books and serious documentaries recognizing San Antonio as a musical epicenter. But even if there were, they wouldn’t be nearly as much fun as Garrett T. Capps’ new album, I Still Love San Antone. With all the heartfelt zaniness audiences have come to expect from the S.A.-based singer-songwriter, the album pushes far beyond any novelty record format. Capps’ masterful work of offbeat regional storytelling incorporates fired-up country-rock and retro Tex-Mex instrumentation with a genuinely psychedelic worldview.

 ll genre bending effect.
