Yellow Cap (Dresden)

The offbeat maniacs have been influenced by different musical styles: from Funk, Punk and Rock to Jazz, Latin and, of course, Ska, Reggae and Rocksteady. All these ingredients produce an extremely danceable mix that contributes to Yellow Cap’s distinctive style. Creativity, musical openness and enthusiasm are only a few of the characteristics that made them being a member of the large Pork Pie Family

Barbdwire (Coventry)

Barbdwire tread the path between the deepest darkest roots reggae, blistering ska, Rub-a- dub, social conscience and explosive live performance. Barbdwire are undoubtedly the most exciting and original prospect to emerge from the murky depths of Coventry’s back-streets for some years.

Barbdwire –are a seven headed beast comprising of Trevor Evans aka the unshakable Coventry legend ‘E.T Rockers’ on drums, Chelston Belgrave on bass provides the solid, militant rhythmic backbone and Danniella ‘Dee’ Evans the bubbling specialist. The brass section is comprised of John ‘Babyface Assassin’ Pudge on trumpet and Dale Gibson on Trombone, together creating those those Tijuana and smoky New York basements sounds. Ryan Every‘s guitar echoes with blistering blues licks via Nashville and Brixton. Up-front is Cherelle Harding who’s melodies tread the path from the sultry and seductive to rabble-rousing war cries. With melodic prowess and lyrical conviction to both stop tracks and move feet.

Having torn apart dance floors, blown roofs and received several radio plays including reggae pioneers David Rodigan on BBC 1xtra & Dennis Bovell, Barbdwire have also graced the stages of prestigious events such as Skamouth, Godiva Festival and Folkestone Ska Splash, and shared the stage with such reggae legends such as The Specials, The Pioneers, Hollie Cook, Neville Staple, Jerry Dammers and Roy Ellis.

With their intoxicating stage presence Barbdwire’s manic, loyal and frankly well-dressed fan-base grows ever quickly with each incendiary performance. Their Debut Album ‘Time has come’ has set an incredibly high standard and was produced by none-other than the legendary Grammy award-winning producer Roger Lomas.

Barbdwire innovate with contrary forces and bring a heavy sound which cannot be easily categorized. This 7 piece ‘mix and blend’ and while others may think outside the box; Barbdwire completely destroy it!
