Sound System Sessions, an evening honouring soundsystem heritage spanning Reggae, Dub, Rocksteady, Ska, & Dancehall. Plus, Collective Memory – a participatory exhibition of photographs of Coventry musicians, taken by Jason Tilley.
The Tin Music and Arts has teamed up with Riddim Jam who will launch a new side project – Sound System Sessions, an evening honouring soundsystem heritage – with dynamic sets from both the city’s veteran selectors & DeeJays, as well as rising talent. With selectors spanning spectrum of Reggae, Dub, Rocksteady, Ska, & Dancehall, we’ll feature live instruments over their sets to deliver an immersive, culturally-rooted sound experience.
The event will also include ‘Collective Memory’ – a participatory exhibition of photographs of Coventry musicians, taken by Jason Tilley. Jason, who is a former press photographer, took many photographs of musicians during the 80s, 90s and 00s. Now, since suffering a series of strokes, has dementia and can’t remember who some of the people are in his photographs, so he is asking for visitors to come to help identify them.
