The Tin Music and Arts is hosting a Japanese Culture Festival over the weekend of 4th – 6th October. Programme so far looks like this ….  (but we keep adding things!)

4.00pm – Doors open for Manga portrait sessions, retro Japanese Arcade Game fun, sake, origami and more.

7.30pm – Pecha Kucha (#PKNCov)- FREE ENTRY

Pecha Kucha (Japanese for ‘chit chat’) was devised in Tokyo by two architects who felt that presentations often went on for too long. It is a presentation style in which 20 slides are shown for 20 seconds each (six minutes and 40 seconds in total). PechaKucha Nights are informal and fun gatherings where creative people get together and share their ideas, works, thoughts, holiday snaps — just about anything, really.

10.30pm – Karaoke FREE ENTRY

~~Saturday 5th October~~
4.00pm – Doors open for Manga portrait sessions, retro Japanese Arcade Game fun, sake, origami and more.

6.00pm – 7.00pm Manga workshop: £4
Visual storytelling for manga and comics.

7.00pm – Film Screening ‘Land of Hope’ – £3 Entry
Dir Shion Sono (In association with CUEAFS). Writer-director Sion Sono, known for over-the-top cult films like Suicide Club, Love Exposure, and Guilty of Romance, continues his more recent turn towards dramas haunted by all-too-real fears.
The Land of Hope shows the moral dilemmas faced by people who want to move on from tragedy without abandoning the essence of who they are. Combining naturalistic settings with surreal imagery (like a woman shopping for groceries with a Geiger counter), the film shows the increasing difficulty of determining who is more reasonable: those who insist that life must go on as normal, or those who take up arms against the invisible war around them.
