Born in Calgary, FOONYAP started violin when she was 4. Embedded in classical music, Catholicism and Chinese culture, FOONYAP struggled with conformity, alongside a need for acceptance. When she reached her breaking point, FOONYAP grasped her past with new intentions, playing in Woodpigeon and her own FOONYAP and The Roar. Her latest album reflects her tumultuous journey to self-discovery.

"… swayed between a restrained delicacy and a roaring euphoria…a truly impressive sonic expedition” – The Line of Best Fit
"…a lush, weird and intoxicating blend of electro-opera meets experimental pop" – CBC Music
